Cambios en "Memoria democrática"

A solidarity fund that should not be necessary, but unfortunately still is in Spain nowadays, an anomaly in a state considered a European democracy.

Memory is an exercise of reconstructing the past in the present moment, and must be understood as a right; a right of citizenship. To this end, the fundamental objective of any memory initiative should be to create conditions of social pedagogy that constitute the guarantee of non-repetition.

Where the state does not reach, the citizenry does

Historical memory associations have been carrying out the work that would correspond to the state through citizen donations, given that the laws promoted in the field of democratic memory have not been ambitious enough, nor have they been endowed with the necessary budget.

Crowdfunding has been used by some of these associations, and Goteo in particular has been the platform of reference due to its special sensitivity to historical memory.

The fund is aimed at organisations that seek to make reparations to the victims and relatives of the Spanish Civil War and the forty years of dictatorship that followed, as well as those initiatives that seek to document the historical period rigorously through written or audiovisual material, giving a voice to the losers, something that does not usually happen in history books.

Goteo has already seen some initiatives that can serve as inspiration for future promoters, and as a reference when it comes to imagining the impact of the fund, some of them are listed below:
